Your Public Health Working For You!
Environmental Health ServicesThe Environmental Health Division is responsible for preserving, protecting, and improving the public health, welfare and environment within Dickinson and Iron counties. To fulfill this respoinsibility, Department's Environmental Health Division maintains a highly trained and qualified staff that provides the following services: Inspection programs, consultation services, education outreach and regulatory enforcement.
- Food Service Sanitation Program
- Inspect restaurants, bars, caterers, mobile and temporary food vendors
- Review plans for new and remodeled facilities
- Provide training for food service personnel
- Investigate complaints and food borne illness outbreaks
- On-site Wastewater Management Program
- Permits are issued for installing or repairing on-site sewage disposal systems.
- The site and its soils are evaluated to protect the ground water quality and prevent public exposure to untreated wastewater.
- Private/Non-Community Water Supply Program
- Permits are issued for well installations
- Sample bottles are available for testing your drinking water
- Campgrounds
- Annual inspections are conducted to assure the safety and well-being of the public
- Public Swimming Pool Program
- Public pools and spas are inspected and monitored to assess water safety, quality and good hygienic practices
- Rabies
- Investigate animal bites for potential rabies exposure
- Radon Testing
- A variety of testing kits are available for purchase
- Other Services and Programs
