Community Health Services

Community Health services provided by the Dickinson-Iron District Health Department (DIDHD) include Women, Infants, and Children (WIC), Hearing and Vision Testing, Children's Special Health Care Services (CSHCS), Maternal and Infant Support Services (MSS/ISS), MIChild a (health insurance program for uninsured children in Michigan's working families), Influenza Immunizations, Immunizations clinics, Family Planning Programs, Breast and Cervical Cancer Control Programs as well as many others.

Environmental Health

The Environmental Health Division is responsible for preserving, protecting, and improving the public health, welfare and environment within Dickinson and Iron counties. To fulfill this responsibility, the Department's Environmental Health Division maintains a highly trained and qualified staff that provides the following services: Inspection programs, consultation services, educational outreach and regulatory enforcement.

Emergency Preparedness

The Dickinson-Iron District Health Department (DIDHD) must be prepared to respond to any emergency impacting the public's health. The mission of the Emergency Preparedness Section is to prepare the health department staff to respond to public health emergencies, to collaborate with local, regional, and state emergency response partners, to educate the public, and to provide rapid detection and intervention of public health diseases and emergencies. The DIDHD has developed this section of its website to provide information and resources related to preparing for emergencies and disasters that may effect the public's health.
